Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday November 1st
October 31, 2009
Everyone remember to turn your clocks back this Sunday. We will be able to have a little more light in the mornings now, before everyone heads out to work. But the evenings will be fun. Penning, feeding, putting out hay in the dark in the evenings. Oh! the joys of living on a ranch!

So let's grab our Mud Boots and head on out to the Barn in the Dark, and get those chores done!

Bridge is OUT
October 25, 2009
Just a note of warning....if you are headed to our Ranch to check out the Cattle, do not come thru' Leroy, the bridge is out, and maybe for the next 10 months or so. Take 84 out of Waco. Call for more directions.

Swinging 'B' Ranch hosts out of state visitors
October 20, 2009
We enjoyed some visitors to our ranch the other day from Calif. and Wis. I believe, they got to see a little action in Central Texas. Between snakes, wild hogs, crazy dogs, and cowboys hats, we all had a blast!
Can you pick out the real Texan?

Ride them Cowboy Mark!

T-Bone tells them HOWDY!

The Sweethearts give them a Texas size tour of the fair grounds. Only problem the Ladies didn't have enough time to shop in the Exhibit Bldg.

Fun with Cowboy hats. They had to try out Mackie's Mexican Cowboy hat! And Mark practiced his Howdy and tipping his hat at the ladies!

I can't believe I have as big a head as Mackie! -Tom-
It's more than a little big! -Mark-
They even got to see Crawford and met President Bush, and eat at one of his favorite places.

And ya'll come back any time.....and maybe you'll understand why we all say HOWDY now!

Heart of Texas Fair time
October 20, 2009
October is a busy month in Central Texas with the Heart of Texas fair going on. Mackie is the Chairman of the HOT fair complex. It keeps him hopping all year long, But even more at this time of the year. Here are a few photos of the kiddos this week.
Just a few pictures from the HOT fair time......
Enjoying the parade

Mason wasn't sure about getting down and watching the parade...he'd much rather be held!

....And the best part was digging in the bucket of candy, after Autumn and mommy & daddy picked it up!

Next we head out to the fair grounds....

And now Autumn has to go ride the horses (aka pony rides)
How often do I get a real smile? She loved the pony ride!

Mason wasn't that sure about it!

Next we had to go to the petting zoo

Again Mason wanted to check it out from a distance......Autumn loved the baby goat!

Storm Clouds Rumble thru' Axtell
October 1, 2009
From nary a drop, to many blessings above! It started out as a cloudy Thursday afternoon, and developed in to a full blown storm. This is what the clouds looked like right before sunset.

And the clouds continued to build......

It was an absolutely beautiful sunset. And I took way too many pictures. But the clouds and the sky was so pretty here at our little Axtell Ranch.

It's Spring...in the Fall!!!
October 1, 2009
Can you believe it looks like Spring in the Fall of Central Texas! There are flowers blooming, and the weeds and GRASS is growing! In fact, we are having to do a little shredding as you can see below! Joel has been busy helping us on the ranch this fall, getting it in shape for the winter time.

Behind....
September 16, 2009
Seems the faster I run the further behind I get! Does anyone else feel that way! I need to get busy and get this site updated.....and maybe after the middle of Sept. I can. We've been busy, with Mackie's business. Out of town, and state, quite abit of this month. I've tried to keep up with my ads, and some picture taking. But I am so far behind. When I can sit on Mackie, and get some info, on some of these calves, I hope to get them posted. Maybe! Seems with work, family, church, and ranch chores time does run out. But don't give up on us! There will be new posts soon! Til Next Time....
And hope to see you at the Beefmaster Convention in October!

It's raining......
September 11, 2009

Just a little dance to celebrate the rain in Central Texas! And my hubby was a genius.....he had our coastal field fertilized yesterday. So good Lord willing we should be able to get another cutting of hay. Which if you are like us, you will need. We had to start putting out hay several weeks back, which started putting a dent in our hay supply. But should help pasture wise and hay wise. So let's do the happy dance....and celebrate the RAIN!
